NEWS FLASH:-
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TYSELEY TEAM and "EARL of MOUNT EDGCUMBE" - "Bristolian run(s)"
"46 MINUTES EARLY, non-stop by STEAM"
On 17APRIL.2010 - as reported in "Steam Railway Magazine # 375 April 30-May 27.2010, Pages 6 to 10 celebrating part of the 175th Anniversary of the Great Western Railway [UK], Castle Class locomotive # 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" ran from London [Paddington] to Bristol Temple Meads arriving 14 minutes EARLY on the outward trip.
On the return trip - booking schedule was 154 minutes, 5043 was back in London 109.58 minutes AFTER departure from Bristol with an average speed of 72.8MPH having bettered by 19 seconds the 66 mile allowance of the great train [Bristolian] in its 1950 glory days. Wow. One can but imagine the public reaction to that - steam trains run on time - Yahoo.
Well done to all concerned, especially the Tyseley team, Network Rail, First Gt.Western, West Coast Railway for making the 'impossible' a reality - especially First Great Western that has copped a fair bit of un-necessary flack in the past.
As an aside, with that GUV and or 2nd tender behind "Tornado" 60163, I'd like to see a re-run of the Top Gear programme, reckon steam would be first by a country mile.

"Planes TV"
Aviation is yet another of my hobbies. When living at Salisbury [UK], we often saw test flights of some great machines, some long gone too, most noteably the TSR2 which I always thought was one of the most advanced machines of its time. Sadly everything associated with it was 'destroyed' by a rear facing government of that time.
On the 02SEPTEMBER.2010 received the latest links from "Planes TV" of the Eastbourne and Lowestoft Sea Air Festival 2010' - If you would like to view this and other aircraft check with Iain Campbell of Planes TV via the attached link in 'green' and tell Iain and crew that Jonboyradio sent you and/or where you found the link - it's FREE too - Planes TV. Their DVDs are also available in English, Dutch, German, Russian etc.
